The Emergency Response Sub-Committee (the sub-committee) was established on 3 April 2020. Its role was to enable fast-tracked adjustments to qualifications and training package requirements and ensure that Australia’s Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector could quickly respond to areas of critical workforce and skill needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The sub-committee’s term ended on 31 December 2020, however stakeholder feedback on COVID-19 issues below are still welcome and will be passed on to the AISC for consideration.
Issues may be in relation to immediate skill needs and/or impacts for training delivery, as well as issues/impacts that are likely to be felt over the medium to longer term as a result of COVID-19.
- What critical skills are needed by workers and businesses to respond to our economic recovery from COVID-19?
- What VET training products could help to provide these critical skills rapidly and better support workers whose jobs have been impacted by COVID-19? For example, this could be the creation of new skill sets, modification of existing training products, or the development of resources to support training product delivery.
- What other broader workforce skilling or training product-related issues are associated with the pandemic that need to be addressed to support longer-term economic recovery?
