To support the reforms in the vocational education and training (VET) system, the Australian Government has announced that the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) will provide training product assurance initially from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2024.
Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) Chair, Ms Tracey Horton AO, has welcomed the opportunity to work with ASQA in establishing this new function.
“The AISC is committed to ensuring the continuity of the training product development program over the course of 2022 and working with ASQA, industry and government to support a smooth transition to new industry engagement arrangements”, said Ms Horton.
The AISC has put in place several measures to ensure that the transition to the new arrangements is efficient and orderly. This includes restricting new projects being commissioned in 2022 except under limited circumstances and taking steps to support Industry Reference Committees to complete their existing training projects by the end of 2022.
More information including a fact sheet on the establishment of the assurance function is available on the Skills Reform website.
