The Australian Industry and Skills Committee (AISC) has established eight cross-sector projects to address common skills needs, minimise duplication of units, consolidate existing units and remove units that are no longer being used.
This will reduce the levels of complexity in the vocational education and training (VET) system, improve mobility through recognition of qualifications between occupations and address the issue of low enrolments in some courses.
To achieve these outcomes, the cross sector projects will seek a coordinated response between Industry Reference Committees (IRCs) with an interest in developing training products to address new or emerging skills.
Some of the cross sector projects intersect with Industry Growth Centres (IGCs). The expertise and networks of the IGCs bring unique insight and comprehension to training package development that complements the expertise and knowledge of the IRC network.
This work will provide a forum for a range of industries to come together to discuss opportunities provided by these new technologies and how they can translate to new competencies across the system.
